Some Recent Cases
In March Tina Donoghue who practices in the area of civil actions successfully claimed £2,300 in compensation for her client who had been falsely imprisoned by Brent magistrates’ court. Her client had been arrested on a warrant for a sentence which had previously been appealed to the Harrow crown court.
Mark Troman recently represented an adult male at Highgate Magistrates’ who did not qualify for legal aid due to his means. Mark was instructed on a private basis and secured acquittals for assault and criminal damage. We then successfully applied for a Defence Costs Order which will meet his legal costs.
MM was charged with conspiracy to defraud her employer, a government agency, by falsifying computer records with other members of staff and arranging for money to be paid into private bank accounts. We obtained expert computer evidence to cast doubt on the prosecution’s contention that their security system was fool-proof and our client was found not guilty.

Margaret Obi represented this client who the Crown had alleged was the ringleader of an international team of conspirators who had presented £180,000,000 worth of £500,000 notes to the Bank of England for realisation, which was the tip of a claim said to be worth £900 billion. The face value of the notes was the largest seizure of counterfeit currency in British history.
The trial judge was persuaded after 8 days of legal argument that there was 'no case to answer'. The Crown appealed the terminatory ruling, but it was upheld by the Court of Appeal, and Mr L was formally acquitted and awarded costs.

SM acquitted of murder
This young client represented by Nicola Clark, was acquitted of murder charges in the Old Bailey In September 2007. Although charged with murder and violent disorder, SM was cleared of murder, whilst his co-defendant was convicted of the murder.
