The Personal Injury Team


Our Personal Injury and Medical Negligence team is headed by one of our Partners, John Gillman. Since qualifying in 1981 John has acted in numerous high profile cases. The claimant in Dhillon v. Royal Free Hospital recovered £4 million in damages for cerebral palsy caused by birth injury; he also acted for the claimant in Woodroffe v. Cuthbertson – the only successful fatal accident claim against a climbing guide. He is a member of the Law Society; Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Panels; APIL; AVMA.

Graham Brierton qualified at Powell Spencer in 2000, he has worked in the Personal Injury and Medical Negligence Department since he was a trainee in 1998. Graham's caseload includes most types of Personal Injury cases including, road traffic accidents, trips and slips, employer's liability, occupiers' liability and actions against hospital trusts and individual doctors. He also likes Led Zeppelin !

The newest member of the Personal Injury team, Sonia specialises in all types of Personal Injury cases. A lot of the work she undertakes is in relation to Road Traffic Accidents and Trips and Slips. Sonia also has the benefit of speaking three languages which has assisted various clients. One of her most recent success was a high valued Road Traffic accident. Sonia also assists those who have been victims of crime, with CICA applications. Sonia is a member of the Young Legal Aid lawyers and a member of APIL.  She does a mean Salsa too.
