Trade Union Department

PSP has a specialist department dealing only with Trade Union Members. This department is based at our Ealing Office and is headed by Chris Humphreys and assisted by Liani Holland.

For a working person, an allegation of a criminal offence can lead to suspension from employment or even dismissal in addition to any criminal sanction which may be imposed.  This can happen regardless of whether the alleged offence occurred at work or not.  A criminal record may not only affect the individuals' employment status but also their future job prospects.

Our Trade Union Department provides advice and representation to members in London and the South East on Criminal Law matters.  We are also instructed to represent members who are asked to attend investigatory interviews by the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) and the Office of the Rail Regulator (ORR).  During 2012, Powell Spencer and Partners helped hundreds of members on a wide range of matters, ranging from speeding offences to serious allegations of theft, fraud and assault.     Powell Spencer and  has led teams representing rail workers, fire fighters and pilots, to mention a few.  The department also acts for several American Unions whose members visit  or work in the UK as cabin crew and pilots and come into contact with the legal system.
