The failing criminal justice system

Our client was arrested in February 2023 and his case was listed a second time for trial on 13 April 2026, having waited over three years to establish his innocence the case could not proceed because of a lack of court time and the absence of a prosecutor! The client now has to wait until August 2027 for the re-listed trial with no guarantee it will proceed.

Meanwhile Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court in North London is closed for refurbishment as a result defendants are being sent to Croydon Magistrates' Court in South London, impacting complainants, defendants and witnesses as well as solicitors and barristers! An enormous amount of time and expense will be spent travelling because of a failing criminal justice system.
